The Way of the Cross – An Ecumenical Devotion

April 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Initiated by Melbourne City Churches in Action (MCCIA) this an ecumenical walk through the City of Melbourne on Good Friday remembers Jesus’ walk to the Cross. The walk is marked by a series of 14 superb bronze relief sculptures which tell the story of the journey of Jesus from the Last Supper to the Cross. The 14 ‘stations’ are placed outside various City Churches including, for the first time, St Michael’s Uniting Church. At each station those participating pause for prayer, readings, reflection and…

Good Friday Service

April 14 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

We gather in silence. The Church is in darkness.  The Minister wears black. Seeing a glimmer of light in the darkness. There are no flowers. One by one the candles are snuffed out.  When the final candle is extinguished the people leave in silence.  At the conclusion of the Service, the bells will sound their slow notes across the city. It is a day of remembering. It is a day that hopes for a better day.
