Each year a large number of visitors come through St Michael’s during the week. They visit the church for various reasons, often as part of their travels, maybe to marvel at the unique architecture of this magnificent building or perhaps to find sanctuary in the middle of a busy day. There is much to see at St Michael’s.
The beautiful windows are some of the best in the city. The contrast of the traditional stained glass windows (which frame the upstairs gallery) with the exceptional bicentennial windows downstairs is unique. Combined with the remarkable Romanesque style and elegant circular seating, St Michael’s is unlike any church in Melbourne.
To share our treasure with the world, St Michael’s is open to visitors during the weekdays. Stop in, perhaps to learn something of St Michael’s history and features with our knowledgeable volunteer tour guides or to experience a moment of quiet from the busy city.
Tours operate at St Michael’s Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 1.30pm (Please call to confirm).
