Georgia Wilikinson (Soprano)

The Academy of St. Michael’s led by Rebecca Adler

The St. Michael’s Brass Ensemble

The St. Michael’s Brass Ensemble and The Academy of St. Michael’s are St. Michael’s own in house brass ensemble and chamber orchestra.  Players in both groups belong to a wide array of professional orchestras such as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria.  All players are amongst the ranks of Australia’s finest musicians.

Beginning her classical voice training at the age of 14, Georgia Wilkinson was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School
to study classical voice under the acclaimed performer Carrie Barr and piano under Anne Lewitzka. Georgia excelled at VCASS and, in 2009, Georgia became the youngest student to be awarded the school’s Robert Salzer Voice Award.

On stage since the age of 10, Georgia has taken part in over 20 musical productions. Her impressive work in musical theatre has included many leading roles such as Christine in
Phantom of the Opera, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Maria in West Side Story and Charity Barnum in Barnum. Her contribution to Victorian musical theatre has been recognised with a Guild award and four Lyrebird awards.

Georgia graduated in 2010 and travelled overseas to audition for undergraduate degrees. She was accepted into the Royal College of the Music, the Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. However, after being awarded the Florence Bradford scholarship to attend the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, she decided to undertake her studies in Melbourne where she has become the recipient for multiple other awards.

In 2012, Georgia was chosen as the ‘Opera Scholar of the Year’ through the Opera Scholars Australia program, once again making her the youngest recipient of a prestigious award. This has given her the opportunity to perform at several Australian Music Events concerts, including “Opera in the Alps” and “Opera in the Market”, where she was accompanied by the Alpha Sinfonia and conducted by Guy Noble. Through AME, Georgia has sung alongside celebrated and illustrious artists such as Yvonne Kenny, David Hobson, Marina Prior, Roy Best, Kahmahl and James Morrison.

Georgia graduated from the Univeristy of Melbourne’s Conservatorium of Music in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical voice, after studying under the tutelage of renowned singing teacher Anna Connolly. Stepping straight into a professional production, Georgia undertook her professional debut as Sophie in Left Bauer’s production of Terrance McNally’s Masterclass. The production was received with rave reviews and was remounted for a return season and tour in 2015.

In December 2015, Georgia was featured in Sydney’s Carols in the Domain, televised on the Channel Seven Network, as one of 8 of Australia’s finest upcoming opera singers.
Accepted into multiple opera summer programs for 2016, Georgia then travelled to Italy to study under world-renowned operatic coaches and singers, before undertaking her international operatic debut as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).

Returning to Melbourne in late 2016, Georgia finished up the year costarring in a Victorian tour of Bach to Bing: A Christmas Celebration alongside David Hobson. The concerts were met with such positive feedback that they will be returning for the Christmas season of 2017.
