Peter Douglas accepting the award from  Executive Minister Dr Francis Macnab

The winner of the 2015 St Michael’s Art Competition is Peter Douglas for his artwork entitled “Toy Boat”.

Three judges, Dr Julijana Chochovski, Dr John Abbate, and Dr Lynette Kramer, all connect to the ethos of St Michael’s in different ways, came together to confirm which artwork they believed linked strongest to the theme of “Compassion”.

Peter’s work connects with the empathy and support compassion for others can provide. The artwork creates a focus on everyday compassion between family members that we often overlook and Peter’s confident and considered use of the paint captures a fleeting moment in time where compassion enhances the life of both father and son.

We are delighted to have Peter be part of our 2017 calendar of exhibitions.

The runner up of the 2016 St Michael’s Week Art Competition is Wendy Hickin for her painting “The Hand”.
