Margaret's Message

Melbourne is renowned for its festivals and public events. Usually, Midsumma the
festival that celebrates the creativity of the LBGTIQ community is held in January, which really is mid-summer. This year, because of COVID, itâ??s being held late April to early May. Showing our solidarity, we have a beautiful new sign at St Michaelâ??s celebrating our LGBTIQ friends and family. Coincidentally, this weekâ??s lectionary reading is the story of the apostle Philipâ??s encounter with an unnamed character known only as â??the Ethiopian eunuch.â? Right from the earliest days of the church, followers of Jesus
practiced radical equality and inclusion of people who are different, physically, sexually, racially, from dominant socio-cultural norms. Like them, we are called to be bringers of Good News without partiality or prejudice! We celebrate that St Michaelâ??s is a place where all are welcome, and where everyoneâ??s gifts are valued.

Peace and Blessings, Margaret
