It seemed like everything was going well. We were optimistic, hopeful and tentatively planning for a future where we could connect face to face with our circle of family and friends (and our church). Unfortunately, Victoria has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases, and we are left feeling disappointed. And maybe more than a little anxious.
When we are disheartened, it is helpful also to name our hopes and to remember what we have managed before. We have shown we are able to keep the number of cases down, and that we are able to make positive changes in our own lives and adjust for the greater good of the community. So, we can keep doing this.
Not everyone will respond in the same way. Some may be feeling anxious, some frayed and grumpy, others might be taking this all in their stride. At St Michael’s, our community of care, overseen by the Contact and Care Deanery, is here to help. Please reach out to the office if you would like to talk to a member of the Contact and Care network, or to me.
Don’t forget the St Michael’s Zoom chat at 11am on Thursday is another good way to stay connected. Call the office if you need support to connect. And of course, we will continue to create and share “Sundays Online @ St Michael’s” each week.
Soon we will also be bringing some mindful mediation to St Michael’s Online with Karen’s guided meditation videos. We realise that for some this time is still very busy, perhaps even busier than pre COVID, so we have two options, a Rapid 15-minute Meditation and a Slow 30-minute Meditation. These will be found on the St Michael’s website and our YouTube Channel.
The videos are a little reminder that in these trying times, it is important to breathe and take a moment, to connect ourselves to the Mystery that holds us all in love. Remember, it’s okay to feel disappointed. But if we are kind to ourselves and each other, we can move through this.
Meanwhile peace, Margaret
