Margaret's message

This week has been hard. The number of COVID cases in Victoria over the past few days is very upsetting. It is disheartening to know that people have gone to work after testing positive. Conspiracy theories have taken hold in some places, leading to people to make uninformed and dangerous choices. I am saddened to see that the only people who have been named and shamed by the media as rule breakers (as opposed to putting themselves on social media) are two young women of African background. Race-based blaming does not help. It seems rather that the problem lies in the extreme individualism that has pervaded our political and social lives over the past 30 years, and the normalisation of precarious â??casualâ?? employment....

Can you sew?
Volunteer to make facemasks

It is now mandatory for metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire residents to wear a face mask when outside their home but many marginalised and vulnerable people in our community are having trouble accessing them.

Uniting
Vic.Tas and Uniting AgeWell are calling for volunteers to sew reusable, fabric face masks to be distributed to those most in need.

For the ins and outs of how to get crafty and create some safe face masks, have a look at the link below.
