Martin Buber revisited at St Michael’s

December 1, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

FREE EVENT

The Martin Buber Commemorative Lecture was held on 22nd October. It was a cold night, but 185 people attended. Several people have said they were not able to be present. Martin Buber was one of the greats of the 20th Century. His words have intense meaning for us of the 21st Century. People of his kind only emerge once or twice in our lifetime.

Dr Francis Macnab is proposing to give a further address on Martin Buber – a different address while still containing some elements of the October lecture. This new lecture will be in the form of an ARM-CHAIR CONVERSATION.

Dr Macnab will speak of the way Martin Buber affected his early experiences conducting GROUP THERAPY with very disturbed chronic schizophrenic patients in a long-stay mental hospital in Scotland. He will then describe how Buber’s writings are of critical relevance to psychotherapy in 2015 and to our everyday relationships.
