In the Uniting Church, baptism takes place in the context of public worship. We name and celebrate the grace of God expressed in every one of God’s children. We welcome the child into the Christian Church and so the presence of the congregation is significant. We look forward to the day when we can gather again face to face, and participate in this treasured aspect of church life.

While it has been traditional in many families to have their children baptised as infants, a person can be baptised at any age. Baptism is not a requirement for God’s blessing. We believe that God loves and accepts every child, and that nothing can separate us from that sacred love.

We are continuing to reflect on creative and caring ways to exercise our ministry during the pandemic. If you would like to hold a baptism at St Michael’s, we would be delighted to welcome you and your family for the baptism of your child.
