Repair, Reuse, Refashion: Winter Workshop

August 27, 2023 @ 11:45 am - 12:45 pm

Mend your winter woollies in Ange Tang’s live winter clothes mending clinic.

Australians put 260,000 tonnes of clothing into landfill each year. That’s 10kg per person! Only 7,000 tonnes of textiles are recycled.

Repair is an act of care in a careless fast-fashion industry.
It focuses our mind on placing value on the resources and blessings we already have.

St Michael’s actively supports ecological justice, including providing practical sessions.
Ange Tang holds a practical workshop will provide mending solutions and suggestions for your favourite knits, such as wool and jersey. She will be taking us through some sweater/jumper repair techniques like scotch or Swiss darning to help our favourite garments through the rest of winter.
Ange will also demonstrate small hole repair using felting techniques.

If you have your own sewing kit you are welcome to bring it.

The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of skill level.
Come along, slow down, and enjoy a relaxing hour and revive an item you love.
