Emerging Conversations Series
Topic: Religion in 2018 and the ‘Emergent’ Church
Towards the end of the twentieth century there was the idea that as culture changes a new church should emerge in response.
The emerging church was a postmodern approach to Christianity.
How does the emergent church in 2018 respond to postmodern thought?
“Postmodern thought seeks to find new and more truthful versions of the world, it does not take other people’s views as final truth, it values experience and feelings over imposed ‘truth’ and supports the deconstruction of the organized and institutional church, seen as ‘inherited’ church.”
The past is the past – the future is there to shape – our response.
