Enjoy a magical moment at the St Michael’s Lunchtime Organ Recital.
Today St Michael’s organist and Manager of Music will be performing the Organ Recital.
This lunchtime organ recital Thursday 18th April will feature a work which is most poignant given the recent fire in Notre Dame de Paris: ‘Prière à Notre-Dame’ by Léon Boëllmann.
A note: the St Michael’s organ and the Notre Dame de Paris organ are almost the same age (St Michael’s is 1866/7 and the Notre Dame organ was opened early in 1868).
The two instruments were built by the two most respected organ builders of the 19th Century, William Hill of London, and Aristide Cavaillé-Coll on the respective sides of the English Channel before the St Michael’s organ was shipped to Australia.
Doors open at 12.30pm.
